We are a long-established accountancy firm with more than 40 years experience in the profession. Since 1975 we've specialised in the preparation of accounts and Tax Returns for small traders and all self-employed, together with the usual additional services:   * Property accounts * VAT Returns * Bookkeeping * Payroll Self-Assessment Tax Returns * Business management * Cashflows * Business Plans * Limited Company formations

 

With the advent of Self-Assessment in 1996, self-employed people found themselves subject to vastly more stringent rules, both when it came to submitting annual Tax Returns and to payment of their Tax liability. Self-Assessment was supposed to simplify the UK tax system, yet rather than simplifying the system, it complicated it further - and many people found the need to seek advice.
 
With our experience in accountancy, we were aware that many small traders often could not afford high accountancy fees. There was therefore a big market in providing affordable and fixed-fee accounting services. The problem as we saw it was that accountants' overheads necessitated a fairly high fee-level, and as such low fees were often impossible. There was obviously a market in helping accountants to obtain lower overheads, and to pass the benefit on to clients in lower fees.
 
We devised TaxShops as a way to satisfy both requirements. Since 1997 we have been involved in the opening of street-front TaxShops in several towns and cities throughout the country. TaxShop outlets and licensed affiliations are suitable for all accountants, but are primarily designed for newly-qualified accountants, or for accountants who have previously been in commerce or industry and who wish to start-up in practice.
